For my senior thesis project at WPI, I teamed up with three other structural engineers to design a mixed-use podium building. We designed using four materials: wood and light-gauge steel for the superstructure, then hot-rolled steel and reinforced concrete for the podium. We compared the cost and carbon footprint of each material to produce a final podium design of wood and hot-rolled steel. You can read the full report here.
